The Texas Council on Economic Education (TCEE) participated in the San Antonio ISD Winter Social Studies conference. The conference was held at Brackenridge High School on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 8:30AM - 11:45AM with over 100 participants from grades 1 through 9.
The TCEE held two 90 minute presentations: Lessons for Teaching Economics Using the Play Dough Economics Publication and the Virtual Economics tools. One session targeted 3rd grade teachers while the second session targeted 4th and 5th grade teachers. Participants in the TCEE presentations learned how to apply economics to everyday situations using Play Dough to stimulate discussion and analysis of economic terms and concepts.
The TCEE would like to thank and recognize Janet Mansmann, Senior Social Studies Coordinator, Cynthia Hernandez, Elementary Social Studies Specialist and all of the other SAISD staff for organizing this professional development event focusing on economic education.
